FROM THE "WINNENTHAL HEALING STATION" TO THE CLINIC CASTLE WINNENDEN
The first sanatorium in Württemberg was founded at the Winnenden location in the former castle. The sanatorium for up to 100 beds was opened in 1834 after modifications based on the latest knowledge at the time.
dr Albert Zeller, the first medical director, was convinced that patients could be cured. He gave care, nurturing and compassion to the patients. He saw his treatment supported by a beautiful, healthy environment and a strict daily routine. Zeller developed therapies that are still used today, such as work therapy, group therapy and social integration.

OVER 175 YEARS OF PSYCHIATRY HISTORY

The clinic goes back to the "Königliche Heilanstalt Winnenthal", which, as the oldest sanatorium in Württemberg, has been treating the mentally ill since 1834. dr As the first medical director, Albert Zeller shaped the development of psychiatry in Germany with his humane treatment of the mentally ill. In what was then Winnenthal, he laid the foundation for the psychiatric clinical pictures that are still valid today.
