Gothenburg's indoor market, Stora Saluhallen, is just two minutes from the tourist information center on Kungstorget. In the market hall you will find, among other things: Fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, bread, flowers, baked goods, chocolate, nuts, dried fruits, spices, coffee, tea, sausage, cheese and many other delicacies from all over the world. A total of 40 shops and small restaurants are now united under the roof of the hall.
The Saluhallen was inaugurated in 1889. At that time there were still well over 90 shops under its roof, although the hall was even smaller back then than it is today.
In 2012 the Saluhallen was extensively renovated.

Food from all corners of Scandinavia can be found here. And of course you can eat delicious food too.
The hall itself is a typical steel and glass building of the later 19th century and is reminiscent of a church building. For the time, the construction without supporting columns and partitions was revolutionary.
