Fuchsmühl Castle was first mentioned in a document in 1363 as the Fossenmühle. After several changes of owners and various alterations and extensions over the centuries, the castle was converted into a children's home after World War II. In 1950 the castle became the property of the community of Fuchsmühl and the farm buildings were converted into social housing. However, part of the farm buildings and the manor house were sold privately and the new owner built a pension. When it had to close again due to economic problems, the Seltmann porcelain factory used these rooms as accommodation for its foreign employees. The castle has been a hotel since 1968 after it was sold to Erwin Borm and Helmut Betz. Due to the bankruptcy, the hotel was closed in 2011. In 2014 the castle is sold again and is back in operation as a hotel.
