Covering approximately twenty acres, the power plant features 2,153 dual-axis sun-tracking mirrors (heliostats) that align to reflect sunlight toward the top of the 200-foot-tall tower, where the receiver is located. The 22 m² receiver made of porous ceramic elements heats the air flowing through it to up to 700 °C. The radiation of the sun is concentrated up to 1000 times. The heat can be used, for example, to generate steam, which is used to produce electricity via a turbine.
