If you walk right along the Beerze, you can see a fish ladder in the stream. This has fourteen 'steps' that ensure that fish such as chub and sticklebacks can swim against the current back to their birthplace and breeding or spawning area. This is where the females lay their eggs.

The steps ensure that fish can rest after each 'climb' without drifting a long way. The steps are made of basalt stones, between which water plants can grow well.

A GPS walk with a beautiful beginning and end. In between a more normal connecting piece. You walk on the south side of the Kampina, or rather between the Kampina and the A58.

If you leave early in the morning, you will only hear birds, birds and birds at the start of the walk. A few meters further you look out over the floodplains of the Beerse. Hundreds of water birds float or fly around. Be sure to take the time to look at the birds.
