The origins of this idyllic and busy chapel of Our Lady of the Holy Oak on the Proosbroekweg go back many centuries. There are different versions of the legend, but according to the legend that Petrus Vladderaccus wrote down in a notebook in the early 17th century, a statue of Mary with child was found on the sand in the Beerze river in the early 15th century. This statue was placed in an oak tree and venerated by farmers and shepherds. After the statue had been taken to the church of Oostelbeers or Middelbeers, it was back in its original place the next day. The statue was then brought to Oirschot and a primitive wooden chapel was built on site.

In another version of the legend, the story is further expanded: here the statue floated upstream and two attempts were made to store the statue in 'Beers'.

Beautiful chapel, in May there are usually candy stalls. The row of statues about the crucifixion of JC is beautiful, nice area to walk
