The 13th century is assumed to have been the foundation of the parish. In the former chapel of the Perlmooser-Hof a pastor is named for 1340. This chapel is an independent building apart from the parish church.
During the interior renovation of the parish church from 1978, an emergency excavation revealed a Romanesque-Gothic predecessor building, with the architectural parts from several construction phases being walled up in the Baroque foundations and also containing Roman spolia.
