The outermost part at Ho is called Skallingen, where you can hike to the top. Skallingen was formed over several centuries by the deposits of the sea. Today, Skallingen consists of meadows in the east and dunes in the west. The high tuber, as the beach is also called, offers the opportunity to fly kites, which is permitted on the entire beach.

Especially in the evening you can enjoy the view here, because the city of Esbjerg shines in all its glory. But be careful: the path is pretty long, better not to walk back too late. :-)

Compared to other beaches there was nothing going on here, we only met people on the way back.

Skallingen is a peninsula on the Danish North Sea coast between the Blåvands Huk headland and the island of Fanø. It is part of the Danish Wadden Sea National Park, which was established in 2010.

The spit was only created in the 17th century after the Burchardi flood of 1634.

Around 1910 it was about 9 km long, currently it measures about 7 km long and 3 km wide. The uninhabited area of around 2,000 hectares is state property and is supervised by the Nature Agency Naturstyrelsen.

The long, flat sandy beach is a popular tourist destination, and there are only a few holiday homes behind the dunes. Cows and sheep graze on the marsh during the summer months.

The nearest settlement is Ho. From here, between July 15 and September 15, mudflat hikes can be undertaken at low tide in the Ho Bugt, across to the bird island of Langli. Ho Bay forms the northern end of the Wadden Sea in the North Sea.
