A special feature of the church is that Saint Boniface stands in front of the church on a pedestal. This is because the "Boniface Work" had invested considerable financial resources in the church building because Karlsruhe was more of a diaspora from a Catholic perspective. Therefore, there was a sculpture before the building was even built.

The Boniface Church was built between 1906 and 1908 according to plans by Johannes Schroth, for half of what the construction of St. Bernhard had cost at the time. Citizens of the western part of the city had campaigned for a representative sacred building to be available for church life in their district. The Romanesque basilica was the model, and the floor plan in the form of a Latin cross is clearly recognizable. The main façade is a pointer to heaven thanks to the towering central tower, and the column statue of St. Boniface on the church square draws attention to the holy place.
