The city offers a veritable cornucopia of interesting museums, beautiful churches and craft shops. Among the museums, the Vendsyssel Historiske Museum deserves a special mention, which continuously offers special exhibitions and events on the history of the city. The three medieval churches in Hjørring (Sct. Catharinæ, Sct. Olai and Sct. Hans Church) are also interesting to explore, although they can also be reached on foot. In January 2017 the new Vendsyssel Theater was inaugurated in the city center. This is 4200 square meters and includes, among other things, a theater hall for 250-350 spectators. There is also an ice rink in Hjørring in winter.

Hjørring is Vendsyssel's largest commercial city. It offers everything from cozy shopping streets to large department stores and a large shopping center in the heart of Hjørring.

In the center of Hjørring, you will find the shopping streets Østergade, Strømgade, and Stokbrogade. Here you'll find a fine selection of exciting shops and specialty stores. Stop by one of the exclusive stores offering jewelry, designer furniture, and home furnishings, as well as shoes and clothing. On the shopping street, you'll find small oases that invite you to relax and play.
