The sea mark or beacon in Blokhus is located at 57 degrees 215'
and is 15 m high.
The purpose of a sea mark was to prevent strandings and thus increase safety at sea.
Originally, however, it was Hune Church, which at the time was completely free and had a view of the sea, that was the sea mark of Blokhus, because at that time there were no high dunes like today. However, the church could not tell sailors where they were. For this reason, around 1880 it was decided to put up 23 sea marks along the west coast of Jutland, each with its own shape, which were also marked on the nautical chart and gave ships their position. At the same time, an experienced sailor could calculate the distance to the treacherous coastline.

The Blokhus sea mark, the beacon, was erected in 1882 and rebuilt in 1898 with iron legs, as the original wooden legs made of larch wood caused the beacon to sway and wobble in harsh weather. In 1944, the German troops blew up the sea mark and when Blokhus was rebuilt after the war, no one thought of rebuilding the beacon, as its function was no longer important in relation to the new navigation technology.

In 2006, the Blokhus sea mark was rebuilt as a landmark according to the original drawings, on the initiative of the Blokhus and Surrounding Area Landowners' Association, but this time instead of iron legs, it was made of glued wood, which can withstand any storm.

The original position was also changed, as holiday homes were built here over the years.
