The church, originally built in the Romanesque style, was expanded in 1458 by Hans von Horrheim in the Gothic style to include the choir tower. Two large grave monuments of Thumb von Neuburg date from the 16th century.

St. Alban's Church in Mühlhausen an der Enz is dedicated to Saint Alban. He is believed to have come to Swabia from Mainz.

The church is a medieval fortified church with strong walls and a moat, behind which the inhabitants sought refuge in turbulent times. Only fragments of the churchyard wall and its course still hint at its former function.

In 1856, the ring of walls must still have been completely intact, but nothing remained of the surrounding moat. The oldest part of the church is the square tower, which has a pointed pyramidal roof and whose lower section serves as the former chancel.
