The New Market in Stralsund is currently still used as a parking lot. However, citizens have spoken out against this use and so the square in front of St. Mary's Church will probably remain empty on most days in the near future.
The weekly market takes place on Tuesdays and Fridays. In addition, the market square is used for some major events such as the Christmas market.
At the northern corner of the market, towards the pedestrian zone, there is a house with paid toilets.
