The belfry is part of the building's front facade and is partly built into it. It rises above the rectangular hall, which dates from the 14th century and belongs to the cross-border brick Gothic style. During the First World War, the tower was blown up and the hall, like the rest of the city, was almost completely destroyed. Between 1921 and 1923, both the belfry and the hall were rebuilt according to a historical model. During the reconstruction, the tower was given a new crowning, which makes it look more like the characteristic church towers from the region. The hall was given the appearance of the original building again, which was probably built around 1280 in late Gothic style.

The Belfry of Nieuwpoort is a belfry tower in the Belgian city of Nieuwpoort. The 35 meter high tower was built on the Graanhalle or Stadshalle. It is one of 56 belfries in Belgium and France that have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is conceived as a partial extension of the building's façade. It towers over the rectangular hall of 14th-century origin that belongs to the cross-border Brick Gothic. During the First World War, the tower was dynamited and the halle, together with the entire city, was almost completely destroyed. In 1921-1923 the belfry and the halle were reconstructed according to historical model. The crown has now been worked out, so that the belfry is closer to the local church towers. The hall has the same appearance as the first one, believed to be built in 1280 in late Gothic style.

The hall has the same appearance as the first one, which was probably built in 1280 in late Gothic style.
