The Sophie Fountain stands at the end of Hasenbergsteige. It was erected in 1839 to commemorate the wedding of Princess Sophie to William III of the Netherlands (King of the Netherlands from 1849) (renovated in 1999). Princess Sophie was the daughter of King William I and his wife, Catherine, daughter of the Russian Tsar.
Aside from its historical significance, it is a drinking water fountain.

Small fountain below the Birkenkopf or the road crossing. Unfortunately there was no water when I visited.
