"The Glockenspiel am Deiterhaus is located in the shopping mile of the city of Essen - at Kettwigerstrasse 22. It is a sight in Essen's city center. The Kettwigerstrasse and also the Limbeckerstrasse in the city center are known throughout Germany for the abundance of shops and shopping opportunities. This street in the city center also has a lot of charm in other respects.Some nice cafés are located here and also the well-known carillon at Juwelier Deiter.A carillon was built at the former company headquarters of the Deiter company on Limbecker Straße as early as 1928. The bells were destroyed during the war distributed to various farms in the Sauerland as early as 1940 and thus saved from being melted down.

After the Second World War, the jewelry store at Kettwigerstraße 22 was reopened. The carillon was reinstalled in mid-1949. The carillon consists of the belfry with 26 bells and the copper miner figure who strikes the hours with a mallet, four levels with figures from the city history of Essen and underneath the figure of the "watchful chicken". A Westminster chime sounds every quarter of an hour, and the miner strikes the hour with his mallet. Then the carillon plays well-known folk songs."
