    The baroque castle gate of Horneck Castle was built around 1730 and is a true showpiece: It depicts allegorical figures such as Bravery and Christian Love, flanked by the coat of arms of the Grand Teutonic Master Franz Ludwig of the Palatinate, held by two lions.

          Schloßstraße is the main connection between Gundelsheim's old town below and Horneck Castle, which towers above the old town. The entrance gate forms the upper end of Schlossstrasse. The way up here over the cobblestone pavement of Schloßstraße is very steep. Nevertheless, the castle is an absolutely worthwhile destination.

                Johann Christoph von Buseck, "Knight of the High Teutonic Order, Councilor of the Balley Francken, Chief Bailiff of the Scheuerberg area, and Lieutenant Colonel of the Stahremberg Regiment." Buseck was Commander of Horneck from
                1729–1759 and is buried in the town church of St. Nicholas.
