The sculpture group by the Cloppenburg artist Peter Lehmann commemorates an event from 1929:
An indebted farmer had his castrated boar - a so-called Eberborg - confiscated and sold to cover his tax debts. As a sign of solidarity in times of economic hardship, a group of farmers kidnapped the boar that had already been sold from the new owner's stable and returned it to its former owner. The successful protest movement was discussed in a special session in the state parliament. The penalties imposed for this burglary and breach of the peace were repealed.
