With the Father-Our-Path, inaugurated in June 2018, the municipality of Ammerthal is remembering the long tradition of pilgrimages in the village. But it is also intended as a lasting memory of the Ammerthal painter Wilhelmine Müller, who has achieved great importance far beyond the borders of the municipality and the district of Amberg-Sulzbach. Among other things through their Christmas cards for UNICEF, which are distributed worldwide.
The Our Father Path with its eleven steles leads from the Lower to the Upper Kirchensteig. On the steles are the ten oil paintings in an elaborate and weather-resistant digitized print, on which Wilhelmine Müller has brought the Our Father prayer onto canvas in an extraordinary and colorful way. The artist bequeathed the ten original paintings to the municipality of Ammerthal on her deathbed. The former mayor Alexandra Sitter, who has meanwhile been voted out of office, promised Ms. Müller to put the pictures as a source of power for municipal decisions and as accessible as possible. Since then, the originals have been hanging in the Ammerthal community's wedding room. An 11th stele with Wilhelmine Müller's curriculum vitae and the history of the pilgrimage in Ammerthal was particularly close to Sitter's heart: "The Father-Our-Path should have a meaningful effect and, in meditative prayer, remind us of the meaning of the most famous prayer," she said .
