The Roman Bath open-air museum in the center of Jagsthausen shows the floor plan of a Roman military bath around 200 AD. Scientific panels use words and pictures to describe the bath building, its use and its significance for the everyday culture of a fort on the Upper Germanic Limes. Inscription stones, parts of a giant Jupiter column, brick stamps and a Fortuna statue are on display directly at the excavation site. The importance of the Jagsthausen fort lies in the fact that the oldest and the most recent inscription from the front Limes, the second longest archaeological monument in the world, come from Jagsthausen and these inscriptions allow the dating of the Roman period of residence east of the Neckar to be established.
