The Church of St. Pauli is the only preserved stone church on the island of Rügen.

The current church was completed around 1400. There was probably a previous building on the same site, probably also a pagan sanctuary, which was converted, as the name also indicates; the eponymous apostle Paul, Acts 9, points this out. As early as 1250, the place and the “ecclesia de Babyn” were described as belonging to the Bergen monastery. The church building from 1400 consisted of the nave with choir and sacristy; the tower was added a century later. The Likhus (mortuary) was built on the south side of the choir in the 16th century, and the staircase was expanded into the patron's box in the 17th century. The last renovation of the church interior, during which the flat ceiling was renewed, took place in 1954/55. In 1971 the roof, which was originally covered with slate, was renovated.

Once upon a time ... in a village on Rügen, Lutz Goldfuß tells the story of his hometown Bobbin in the 20th century. At that time (1940) there were 20 families with 100 inhabitants, a church, a school, a pub, a bakery, a shop, a village smithy, a shoemaker, a midwife ... but read on the next holiday once in the same small paperback. One did not come to the nearby Glowe, because Glowe became Sperrgebiet at the end of the 40s, one built at a war harbor and wanted to connect the Baltic Sea with the Bodden over a channel. That was annoying, so you could not buy there the delicious smelling mackerels. The youth did not miss the Baltic Sea beach, at that time they preferred to bathe at the Polchower harbor in the bay.

The imposing village church of Bobbin is the only preserved stone church on Rügen. It was built around 1400 on the site of an older church, which was first mentioned in 1250. However, it is likely that another predecessor building was located at the same location. To the right of the altar stands a baptismal font built around 1300, a Gotland limestone fivet, whose baptismal font wall is decorated with 12 pointed arch apertures. After the Thirty Years' War, Bobbin and Lock Spyker came under the patronage of the Swedish General Carl Gustav von Wrangel. He initiated the baroque refurbishment of the church with altar, choir barriers (1668), pulpit and patronage box. The confessional was made in Stralsund in 1775, the organ with a neo-gothic prospect was written in 1842 in the workshop of C.A. Buchholz.
