An exceptional dendrological rarity is this type of beech called Süntelbuche. It is not a breed, but a very rare mutation of the Fagus sylvatica var. Suentelensis. This addition indicates that this species occurs naturally only in the "Süntel", a highland on Jurassic limestone north of Hameln. Because of their bizarre growth, they are popularly called witch beeches. These crippled beech trees are an attraction in every season. Leafy they form an almost rainproof dome roof, after the fall of leaves the snake-shaped branches that are nested several times by kink growth can be admired.

A really "magical" place. The beech trees have really strange growth forms and in the summer one can see from the inside out, but not vice versa.

The Witches' Forest is a group of trees consisting of dwarf beeches that are over 80 years old. These bizarre, magical and mysterious trees can be seen from far away. The branches of the trees are so bizarrely intertwined that from a distance it almost looks like a giant umbrella. A truly mystical place.
