                                  The large kitchen garden used to be the heart of the castle park and was literally used as such. In later times, what was once the park's main attraction became increasingly overgrown. A nearby listening station, which is located in the area of the Chinese bridge, is also a reminder of this. There you can hear memories from Eutin citizens who are also involved with the kitchen garden. It now shines again in its former glory! Many crops and herbs grow and bloom here and the beds are lovingly cared for. The unusually shaped fruit trees are a visual special feature.

                                          The curved paths offer visitors ever-changing views—seen from the surrounding landscape or from neoclassical garden structures radiating brightly from the greenery. Still preserved today are the lake pavilion, the tuff-stone Temple of Artemis, and the elevated monopteros, a Greek circular temple. Ponds and waterways are also integrated into this concept and feature differently shaped, white-framed bridges, such as the Chinese arched bridge. At the heart of the complex is the large, walled kitchen garden.

                                                The kitchen garden is still characterized by the Baroque orangery, built around 1750. The building was used to protect frost-sensitive plants from the winter months. Lemon and orange trees were among these plants, giving the building its name. In the 18th century, the orangery was temporarily converted into a theater. Next to the orangery is the so-called New Holland House. Because it was heated, it could house exotic plants, for example, from Australia (historically known as New Holland).
