The building and the grounds are typical examples of the so-called "courtyards", which were built in the 16th century in the style of the Weser Renaissance. The simple but well-proportioned house was built in 1532 by Otrave von Landsberg in the style of the Weser Renaissance and by Joh. Friedr. von Landsberg renewed in 1731 (coat of arms above the portal and on the back). The building now houses the extensive, 100-year-old city library. The city archive is located in the former barn from 1600.
