The official gate is a landmark of Stadthagen and a successful example of the approximately 500-year-old wooden architecture. Originally built as an office building, used as a residential building from 1900, the building has housed the city's museum for around 50 years.

It shows urban and regional history on three levels. The interplay of historical architecture and contemporary museum design is characteristic here.

The museum is located in the immediate vicinity of one of the largest and oldest Weser Renaissance castles and the castle park on the one hand and the beginning of the pedestrian zone on the other.

The historic Amtspforte was built in 1553. For more than three centuries it was the administrative, judicial and prison building of the Amt Stadthagen. The building offers in splendid splendor a magnificent wooden architecture on the fillings and stands. 23 splendid jet rosettes adorn the gable sides, and the ship's vaults filled with rows of pearls and ribbons are wonderful.
Above the door there is a nettle coat of arms with an inscription and a doorway framed by ornate arches around the ornately carved arch: "ANNO DNI 1553 H S H D HG".

The violin making workshop, founded in the second half of the 19th century, was known far beyond the Schaumburg region. With careful manual work without the use of even one machine, the workshop was operated until the 80s of the last century.
The costly costumes from Schaumburg Land are presented to the visitor in detail. It took nine years of concrete collecting until the highlight of the exhibition, a Schaumburg-Lippe double wedding train with costumes from the Bückeburg country and Lindhorster space, could be realized in the showcase on the ground floor.
