Pragstein Castle is a small castle in Mauthausen in Upper Austria and forms the motif of the Mauthausen market coat of arms.
The castle, which was extensively renovated at the end of the 20th century, includes the Mauthausen Heritage Museum, a pharmacy museum (predominantly from the Mauthausen Apothecary Norbert Aichberger), the Hans Gerstmayr Museum (steel cut) and a hunting trophy collection in addition to the Landesmusikschule, the registry office and several event rooms.
In 1491 Lasla of Prague had the Pragstein Castle built as a "moated castle" on an island off the shore. Today the music school, the local history, trophy, Gerstmayr and pharmacy museum are housed in the historic building on the Danube.
