The most important hill grave in Schleswig-Holstein is located a few meters north of the village pond and the chapel of Wenningstedt. The rather inconspicuous little hill called Denghoog is overgrown and, although it is almost directly on the road, it is difficult to make out of the vicinity. The Denghoog is even considered the largest tomb of its kind in this region. It's probably more than 5,000 years old, which raises the question of how people managed to build a facility of this size.

Biggest burial mound in Northern Germany. The local expert gave a very detailed, informative and entertaining talk on the origin of the hilltop grave. At the turn of the winter, the sun shines directly on the grave of a stone, throwing the rays back like a mirror. (21st December). Highly recommended.

The Sylt barrow is as old as Stonehenge, Great Britain's mystical place of worship. The Denghoog is one of the most impressive and best preserved large stone graves in Northern Europe. Its cap and curb stones weigh up to 18,000 kilos - each.
