The Uwe Dune is about 1 km from Kampen. A wooden staircase with 110 steps leads to the viewing platform on its summit. The view is gigantic and in good weather you can not only look over large parts of Sylt, but even to the Danish North Sea island of Rømø and to the German and Danish mainland.

The 52.5 meter high Uwe dune is the highest point on the island and is well worth it. You have a good all-round view from her. It's not too far from the parking lots or you can easily incorporate them into a round trip. Not far away is the beacon and the red cliff. The dune area around the dune is also worth seeing.

From here you can see not only the black and white lighthouse of Kampen, also called "Langer Christian", but also the west beach and the Wadden Sea in the east. In good weather you even have a nice overview of almost the entire island, from the Lister harbor to the Morsum cliff!
The 110 steps are really worthwhile!

Wonderful view after 110 steps Ascent to the highest point Sylts (52.5 m), even more beautiful is the descent with a wide view over the dunes to the north, as you almost dizzy.
Great starting point for the experience of the Red Cliff. I recommend a walk north to the crossbright fire, then down the wooden stairs, then left towards the beach to "Kaamps 7", there maybe a little refreshment. Then about 2 km between the waterline and the Red Cliff (after a few 100 m), then the wooden stairs back up to the Uwe dune.

The Uwe Dune, also written Uwedüne or Uwe Düne, is 52.5 m above sea level. NHN is the highest elevation on the German North Sea island of Sylt and is not surpassed by any natural elevation within a radius of about 40 kilometers; Vongshøj, to the north-east in Denmark, is the next higher neighbor at 62 m. Its geographic dominance thus clearly surpasses that of the Zugspitze.

The dune is about 1 km west of the center of Kampen and about 300 m east of the Rotes Kliff cliffs. A wooden staircase with 110 steps has led to the viewing platform at its summit since the 1920s. The view covers large parts of the center and north of Sylt and, weather permitting, extends far out to sea, to the Danish North Sea island of Rømø and the German-Danish mainland.

The height of the 52.5 m high dune is sometimes given as only 50 m, which refers to a 50.2 m high point near the summit.

The dune is named after the lawyer Uwe Jens Lornsen (1793-1838), a pioneer for the unification of the then still existing duchies of Schleswig and Holstein into a Schleswig-Holstein state independent of Denmark.

The view from the Uwe Dune is spectacular. If the weather is fine you might have the two sea view. Alternatively you might use your opera glas to spot the far away details.

The highest elevation on Sylt. 52.5 meters above sea level. A few steps up offer a beautiful view of the island and the beach. The climb is worth it. A few benches are waiting to be used. It's also chilly up here, though.
