The "Kaiserschleuse Ostfeuer" beacon is popularly known as the "Pingelturm". It has a unique selling point with its externally attached fog bell. The bell still works when it is foggy and then strikes four times quickly. The almost 15 m high red brick building of the port builder Rudloff, dating from 1900, can be seen from a distance on the dike.

The still-in-service Kaiserschleuse Ostfeuer was built in 1900 by the port architect Rudloff and is the northernmost lighthouse in the city.

In 1900, a lighthouse was built on the north side of the Weser-side entrance to the Kaiserschleuse, the nautical name of which is Kaiserschleuse Ostfeuer, but which is also known as the "Pingelturm" in Bremerhaven because of its foggy bell the Bremerhaven port construction director Rudolf Rudloff (1851-1922). The lower light at the entrance to the New Harbor, popularly known as the "minaret", also came from Rudloff's drawing board.
