The castle Eschwege stands on the northwestern edge of the old town of Eschwege, above the castle mill directly on the Werra, in the Werra-Meißner-Kreis in northern Hesse. The three-wing former renaissance-style Landgrafenschloss castle from the 16th and 17th centuries serves since 1821 as the seat of the district administration. In the castle tower, the so-called Dietemann Pavilion, there is an art clock with the Dietemann, the symbol of the city of Eschwege (Wikipedia).

The Dietemann, Eschwege's landmark, makes his rounds on the tower every hour and blows his horn. Once a year, on St. John's Day, he leaves the tower and takes part in the procession.
