The founding of the Eglise St. Jean, or St. John's Church, dates back to the 7th century with the founding of the Weissenburg Monastery. The current building of the Protestant parish church dates back to the 13th century. The simple Gothic church, with sandstone columns and round arches and a wooden ceiling, has always been the town church of Weissenburg. The famous reformer Martin Bucer preached the Reformation here.
