    Hermann Hesse spent the last 43 years of his life in Montagnola. Many of his most important works were written here, such as Klingsor's Last Summer, Sidhhartha, Narcissus and Goldmund, Journey to the Orient and The Glass Bead Game. In the Torre Camuzzi, picturesquely situated in the village center, a permanent exhibition shows the important stages of the Swiss Nobel Prize winner for literature, who also became a painter in the enchanting landscape of his adopted home.
    The entirely bilingual exhibition allows visitors to access Hermann Hesse's work individually. Personal items as well as numerous photos, books and watercolors give an impression of Hermann Hesse's life.
    Thematic focuses, for example on India or the creation of The Glass Bead Game, give visitors the opportunity to trace the writer's writing process. The varied program that keeps Hermann Hesse's words alive also makes the place particularly interesting: weekly bilingual readings (every Sunday at 5 p.m.), lectures, conferences, discussions, concerts, temporary exhibitions and guided walks have made the museum an important and lively meeting place that is frequented by an international audience.
