According to local tradition, Jesus stopped on Monte San Salvatore on his way to heaven to once again enjoy the picturesque view - hence the name: San Salvatore means "Holy Savior" in German.

Particularly practical: a funicular has been taking visitors and guests comfortably up to the 912 meter high summit since 1890.

The panoramic points at the summit are numerous and well marked. Most spectacular is the panoramic view from the roof of the small church. The restaurant with a large terrace - from where you also have a magnificent view - is a pleasant rest stop. In the surrounding area, a panoramic platform has been created, with information boards and satellite maps, which serve as a meeting place for tourist communication.

The direct hiking trail from Pazzalo is currently closed due to construction work after a landslide. The work seems to take some more time just before the summit. The site is currently closed on Sundays and public holidays, but passable.

Great mountain with panoramic views, extremely expensive mountain railway with an equally expensive restaurant - logical because Switzerland - normal. As I said, the view is not normal but sensational. Chapel on the summit - with a viewing roof - accessible via the tower.
