The Siebendörfer Moor is located southwest of Schwerin and is a fen, which was created by silting a Grundmoränensees. Until the 1920s peat was turfed on small areas.
Now it is a protected landscape area and is partly used as pastureland. Through targeted irrigation, the moor is revived. This contributes significantly to species, biotope and climate protection.
The moor is not only a breeding ground for many species of birds, but also resting and wintering grounds for gray geese and cranes.
