In the 9th century, Oberbrunn was first mentioned as "ce Brunnen" in the traditions of the Fulda monastery, which is based on a copy in the Codex Eberhardi from the 12th century, as the property of Fulda servants. The next mention was possibly in 1126, when Herolt "de Brunnen" was mentioned in a document as a witness for the Banz monastery. However, the evidence for the 9th century and 1126 is questionable. The first reliable document dates from 1221. In the document, Bamberg's Bishop Ekbert confirmed that Heinrich von Schletten, among other things, gave the bailiwick "superioeris Brunnen et mansum unvm in ipsa uilla" to the Michelsberg Monastery as a fief.

Oberbrunn is a nice little place with beautifully prepared half-timbered houses and a great church. There is a repair station for cyclists with all the trimmings, as well as an opportunity to buy cool drinks just around the corner!
