The Kolvenburg, not far from the local school complex, is a massive four-storey building with a huge billet-hipped roof. Sometimes different fired bricks were used in the construction. Some are light red in color, others dark red. There is no longer anything to be seen of a moat. You also have to know that the current appearance was created by additions to the keep: After the south-eastern extension was completed, the north-western extension took place in the 16th century. With the extensions, the original shape of the keep and the walled castle courtyard that is occupied by the current building also disappeared. Today the castle serves as the cultural center of the Coesfeld district and is closed in the winter months.
