    Between 1827 and 1850, Minden was expanded into a fortress by the Prussian state.
    This was intended to protect the Prussian western provinces against the Kingdom of Hanover.
    The provisions store is one of the preserved buildings of this fortification, which lost its function after the annexation of the Kingdom of Hanover by Prussia in 1866.
    It was originally used to store food supplies and grain and was located in the immediate vicinity of the army bakery, which is also still preserved.
    The building, with a floor area of 42x16 meters, was designed to be bulletproof, as was usual for fortress buildings at the time, with massive walls and a ceiling and roof structure reinforced against artillery fire.
    The provisions store is a four-story building that was built in the neo-Romanesque style of historicism.
    The outer walls are clad in Porta sandstone, and wide belt cornices structure the facade. The windows of the building are crowned by round arches.
    The warehouse had a storage area of over 3000 square meters and has housed a school since 1975.

      Located on dry ground in the upper old town, it was used as a provisions store, together with the army bakery located next to it, to ensure the supplies of the Prussian army in the Minden fortress.

      The provisions store (also called the grain store by the people of Minden) was built from 1835 to 1836 as part of the Minden fortress and covers 3360 square meters. The building has three full floors above a high, rusticated base floor under which there are vaulted cellars.[1] The attic was equipped with a bomb beam ceiling and snow floor until it was destroyed after the Second World War. The outer walls are faced with Porta sandstone.

        The provisions store is located in Minden's upper town. The products of the army bakery were stored there in order to supply the fortresses (including Forts A, B + C) of the Prussian army with food. The building was built in 1836. It is a 4-story building and is made of sandstone from the area around Minden.

        Today the building houses the Weser College.
