At the border of Switzerland and Italy, going through that pass will take you to a less crowded route compared to the Grand Col Ferret which is on the route Tour du Mont-Blanc.

Very nice pass on the Italo-Swiss border, much less frequented than its big brother. It is located at the foot of Mont Dolet, just northwest of the Tête de Ferret, which separates it from the Grand Col Ferret, just one kilometer away. From there, you can reach the combe des Fonds, on the Swiss side, or the Riffugio Elena, on the Italian side. A path also joins the Grand Col Ferret passing just below the head, or the Cesare Fiorio bivouac, at the foot of the Pré de Bar glacier, in Italy. The climb on the Swiss side is often cluttered with snow until late in the season, and is very steep on the Italian side, in grassy paths.
