The Elena refuge is a nice stopover refuge on the TMB at an altitude of 2,062 m, perfect for a short break before tackling the ascent of the Grand Col Ferret. It faces the thousand-year-old Pré de Bard glacier. It is named after the granddaughter of a local shepherd.

Rifugio Elena (2061 m) is a very large mountain hut (127 beds) in the upper Val Ferret on the way to the Grand Col Ferret, important TMB base, well equipped, for some almost a mountain hotel. rifugioelena.it
Northwest of the hut, the glacier tongue of the Pré-de-Bar glacier opens on the south side of Mont Dolent.

The Elena mountain hut is a large and comfortable mountain hut hotel, mainly visited by hikers on the Giro of Mont Blanc. The old mountain hut was built in honor of Queen Helena, wife of Vittorio Emanuele II, but was destroyed by an avalanche.
The view of the Pré de Bard glacier is breathtaking.

Another classic TMB refuge. Always worth some time at a refuge if only for a beer!

A hotel-sized refuge, located on the TMB route. Very busy in season, there can be many people who eat there for lunch or sleep there in the evening. Avoid if you want to spend a quieter and more authentic moment in the mountains. Its location, however, is incredible, with stunning views of Mont Dolent and the Pré de Bar glacier.

The refuge was closed apart from a smallish room on the lower section which had a dorm with some beds. Spectacular views to the glaciers on the other side of the valley.

Last refuge before Col Ferret! You leave the slightly busier part of Val Ferret and immerse yourself in a fantastic panorama between the Pre De Bar glacier, or rather what remains of it, and the greenery with Ferret. Definitely worth a visit!

The hut is named after a young shepherdess, Hélène, who lived with her father in the meadows of Pré-de-Bar.
"Rifugio Elena" is located on the southern edge of the Mont Blanc mountain range, at the eastern end of Val Ferret on the Italian side, at an altitude of 2,062 meters (7,962 feet).
It is commonly used as a stage stop for hikers undertaking the Tour du Mont Blanc.
Above the hut is the uphill trail that leads to cross the border and enter Switzerland at the Col du Grand Ferret.
Many day hikers reach it within an hour's walk from the Arnouvaz valley parking lot.
