    After having been through fields for a while yesterday, it finally goes back into the forest on a narrow little path towards the lakes. The paths are easy to walk on.

        Always follow the hiking trail no. 4, easy path, currently only partially a bit softened, varied vantage points, crossing the stream was not possible because too much water is flooding the stones at the moment, so take a small detour.

              There is no other area in Germany where such an extraordinary variety of different rocks and mineral resources are found on the earth's surface in such a small area. A large part of it is still being mined and used today.

              The reason for this special geological diversity lies in the turbulent geological development. The Weenzen salt dome, which has risen here on deep faults, is of particular importance.
              The geological hiking and educational trail touches on all important geological units and provides information about their origin, structure and use.
