The Marienhöhe is considered the area of a Celtic settlement and a pre-Christian place of power, where the earth mother was worshiped as a symbol of life and fertility.
In the vernacular and in old documents from the historical archive of the town of Ybbs, this area is still called "Fotzenberg". In the course of Christianization, the name was changed to "Marienhöhe".
For many years, a picture of the Virgin Mary was attached to the beech next to the roundabout below. The roundabout, on the other hand, stood before the building and the impairment of tall trees in visual relation to Maria Taferl - another pre-Christian place of worship.

In the course of Christianization, the name "Marienhöhe" was handed down. On the beech next to the "Rondell" there was a picture of Mary for many years, which was renewed in 2010.
The oldest known name "Marienhöhe - magnificent view" was found in a city guide from 1893.
The “Rondell” in turn is in direct line of sight to Maria Taferl. The Ybbs church tower is also oriented towards the Marienhöhe.
