ハイキング
The juniper heaths in Arft, Langscheid, and Virneburg are among the hidden treasures of the Vordereifel region. Their origins are the result of traditional "Schiffelwirtschaft" (ship-farming) – a special form of agriculture. Sheep and goats grazed here for many generations. Since fertilization was neglected for cost reasons, the soil became nutrient-poor over time. This created exceptional habitats that today provide a home for rare and protected animal and plant species.

The Raßberg is 665 m above sea level. NHN to the highest elevations in the Eifel. The Hohe Acht is in sight.
The tower / mast on the Raßberg is a now abandoned radio relay site of the US Air Force (see Wikipedia).

Juniper heath on the Rasberg. The Rasberg itself is worth a visit. There is an antenna that can not be entered.
On the slopes but thrives everywhere the juniper heath, so that a rounding of the Rasberg is worthwhile. Or the best way to hike the dream path "Bergheidenweg" ... ;-)
