The Pomperik and the Dorpsbemden are sometimes referred to together as the Dorpsbemden-Pomperik nature reserve. However, the Pomperik is primarily known as a fish pond. The surroundings of the pond are beautifully maintained and it is a good place to relax after or before you go to the flora-rich meadows of the Dorpsbemden or to the Dautenwijers. The chance that there are fishermen is of course great. Some parts may not be fished, where you can see colorful water lilies in the summer, for example. Also pay attention to the water feature on the other side of the walking path with sometimes beautiful vegetation. For example, one was full of beautiful pearl feather herb, also known as diamond herb, which is an exotic that normally grows in subtropical areas but is unfortunately very invasive.

Dorpsbemden-Pomperik is a well-known nature reserve in Diepenbeek, in the valleys of the Demer and the Kaatsbeek (which is close to this highlight).

The Pomperik from the name of the reserve is a fishing pond (a beautiful one, by the way). And the Dorpsbemden extend east of the Stationsstraat between the fish pond "De Pomperik" and the Demer. You can read it all (with walking routes) here: diepenbeek.be/wandelroutes

And, where this highlight is located, you will also find an information board that explains it in detail while you enjoy the Pomperik.
