The "Dreiländerstein" was set in 1749 and is located between Hohegeiß, Rothesütte and Benneckenstein. Here the countries of the Duchy of Braunschweig "HB", Kingdom of Prussia "HB", and the Countess of Wernigerode Forest Area "GW" met. During the division of Germany, the stone formed a border point between the Federal Republic of Germany and the GDR. Today the stone marks the border between the federal states of Thuringia, Saxony-Anhalt and Lower Saxony.
