Anyone wanting to get a glimpse of Kasendorf and its surroundings should head to the Magnus Tower, which rises 498 meters south of the town on the Turmberg. Climb 68 steps up the spiral staircase and pass through the glass exit to the circular tower parapet. From here, you have a magnificent view of the town of Kasendorf and the Prelitz Mountains. On a clear day, the Franconian and Thuringian Forests form the horizon.

The castle Kasendorf is an outgoing summit castle at 498 m above sea level. NN on the 110 meters above the valley lying Turmberg with the Magnus tower over the community Kasendorf in the district of Kulmbach in Bavaria.
On the 14.5-acre unbewaldeten summit plateau of the tower hill were pre-and protohistoric three-walled fortifications, of which still remains of moats and trenches from the 5th century BC. Are recognizable. On the southwestern edge are remains of a ashlar wall and near a gate (8th / 9th century) and a basement room. In the northern part was a chapel of 1445.
On the site beyond the 200 meters long, 20 meters wide and up to 5 meters high section Walls (10th century) was probably built in the 11th to 12th centuries, the castle Kasendorf, of which nothing is handed down. After the demolition of the castle in 1498 on the foundation remains of the round keep the today 20 meters high, with 40 meters circumference and a wall thickness of 3.8 meters bulky Magnus Tower, a waiting and signal tower was built (see also order of 1498). To the castle belonged also the Kapellenacker, on which stood the castle chapel at a graveyard.

Here you have a good view over Kasendorf to the Main Valley and Plassenburg in Kulmbach as well as the plateaus of Franconian Switzerland.
