The Calanches are a bizarre rock landscape south of Porto in the Regional Natural Park of Corsica. The rocks of reddish granite are about 400 m above sea level directly on the coast, they seem to glow red in the corresponding sunshine.

The Calanques de Piana, an exceptional UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983, is a uniquely beautiful area with its breathtakingly shaped red granite rocks. The so-called Tafoni (bizarrely weathered rocks) represent countless fantasy figures, such as Le Cœur, la "La Tête du chien". Other figures can be discovered off the road.
