Magnificent views of the surrounding alpine landscape in the Upper Vinschgau Valley can be enjoyed from the summit of the Watles, with its modern summit cross at 2,555 meters. There are two routes to the summit, the more scenic, albeit longer, being the route via the Galtberg.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find the really beautiful path from the Watles summit to the upper mountain station that we took yesterday in any other digital or paper map.
To do this, walk about 300 m downwards and keep right on the red and white marked path. This winds down with a slight gradient, but double the distance on the right edge of the valley with a very nice panorama and you move beyond the departure area.
