La Farola de Málaga is a lighthouse located in the Spanish city of Málaga, in the autonomous community of Andalusia. Its construction ended in 1817, and at that time it was located at the entrance to the Port of Malaga. This lighthouse, the work of engineer Joaquín María Pery y Guzmán, has become a symbol of the city and gives its name to the promenade where it is located.

Where the lighthouse stands today, there was a wooden lantern that served as a beacon until 1871, when the construction of the Malaga lighthouse was completed under the direction of Joaquín María Pery. A few years later, the earthquake of 1884 occurred, which would have a decisive impact on the future of the lighthouse, as part of the lighthouse was damaged to the point that it failed, which led to the first reconstruction in 1885. Later, other reconstructions followed, in particular the extension of the lighthouse keeper's house between 1909 and 1913. And then came the Spanish Civil War. In 1936, the Republican forces ordered the lighting of La Farola to be turned off so that it would not serve as a guide for the enemy navy. They also ordered the building to be painted an earth tone to camouflage it, but this too could cause serious problems.

The "Farola de Málaga" lighthouse is located in the city's port. It was built between 1816 and 1817 under the direction of the engineer Joaquín María Pery using stones from Mount Gibralfaro and is the only "female" lighthouse on the Iberian Peninsula. The lighthouse is otherwise known as "el Faro". After the earthquake of 1884, which damaged parts of the lighthouse, it had to be extensively restored. On this occasion, it was raised by four meters. Another renovation took place between 1909 and 1913. In 1936, the Republican forces ordered the temporary switching off of the lighting so that it could not serve as a guide for the enemy navy. The lighthouse was only switched on again after the peace treaty in 1939. Despite the expansion of the port area at the end of the 20th century, its location was not changed and it remained in the center of the port.
