The stone dumps of the Steinsburg on the Kleiner Gleichberg near Römhild in Thuringia are a sea of volcanic rock formed by the eroding basalt blocks of the former volcano. They line the slopes of the basalt cones and are a typical feature of the crumbling volcanic ruins of the Gleichberg Mountains. The term "Steinsburg" probably derives from these large stone fields surrounding the mountain plateau. In Celtic times, these basalt blocks were used to build dry-stone walls for the oppidum (hilltop settlement) built around the mountain.

The railway line also ran above Stressenhausen here. It continued via Bedheim, Simmershausen, and Streufdorf to Lindenau.

The Hildburghausen–Lindenau-Friedrichshall railway, also known as the Hildburghausen-Heldburg Railway, was a nearly 30-kilometer-long narrow-gauge railway (meter gauge) connecting Hildburghausen with the southern Heldburg region. The ceremonial inauguration of the section from Hildburghausen to Heldburg took place on July 1, 1888. On December 1, the remaining section to Lindenau-Friedrichshall was put into operation. The village of Gleichamberg lies directly at your feet, and behind it stretches the Milz floodplain. The view stretches far over the slightly hilly landscape of the Grabfeld.

Looking west (and north), the mountains of the Rhön come into view across the western grave field. An engraved stone tablet explains the visible peaks of the neighboring mountains. To the north, the neighboring twin, the Kleiner Gleichberg, also dominates.
