A forest trail takes a lot of work, but it's worth it. "All the signs were removed, the writing milled out and the wood repainted," reports district ranger Jan Stäcker, who started the path in 2003 in Niendorf. Since then it has been expanded again and again. In Niendorf, children can “experience the forest with all their senses,” says Stäcker. You can't get closer to nature. Children like the six-year-old Finn learn in the forest what animals live in it and what trees there are. A wild bee stand is also part of the Waldsinnespfad. There beekeeper Johann-Friedrich Steffen explains everything about insects. "There is extensive input here," says Förster Stäcker. The pensioners Karl-Heinz Divscherl, Lutz Kottlick and Anton Elsing take care of the maintenance - "for the children", as they say. And of course they enjoy the manual work in nature, they report.
